  12. Greetings,
  13.   I've recently run into a strange problem with my WIN communications
  14. packages.
  15.  
  16. Background: I use both DOS and WIN commincations packages.
  17. The DOS (PCPLUS) program works fine in both DOS and as DOS window from
  18. WfW.
  19. But, Procomm/WIN and Qmodem/WIN can't initialize the modem anymore (I
  20. could swear they could at one time-I use the DOS one most often).

  22. The interesting thing is that when starting up the WIN comms, it shows
  23. the SD light constantly on, but the modem itself doesn't show this.

  25. I've compared the setups to the DOS setup and they are both identical.
  26. Everything looks fine.  IRQs, Ports, COMs all look fine.
  27. I've got a USR Sportster 28.8 and I picked USR 14.4 and Generic 14.4
  28. on both WIN comms.  I also changed the INIT string to ATZ after
  29. the others failed to fix it.

  31. I can't the ATA to work, and nothing shows the modem is ready except
  32. the DOS program.

  34. Anybody have any ideas short of reinstalling?
